Our operating room first served in the fields of general surgery, urology and orthopedics. In the field of neurosurgery, two years after its opening, operations were started. 5 years after the opening of our hospital, it was defined as a training and research hospital and started education by accepting an assistant doctor in existing surgical branches. Our hospital is among the firsts in our country with this feature.
Our operating room moved to the central operating room after devoted work in 2008. It was the first operating room to serve as a 2nd Class service within the province of İzmir. In the central operating room, care is provided to patients in the pre-operative (preoperative), operating room, anesthesia and post-operative (postoperative) areas. There are a total of 16 operating rooms in the operating room. Neurosurgery, Cardiovascular Surgery, Pediatric and Congenital Heart Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Orthopedics and Traumatology, Urology, Pediatric Surgery, General Surgery, Organ Transplant, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Ophthalmology, Ear Nose Throat Diseases surgery rooms within the central operating room. There. In addition, one hall is considered an Emergency hall. One of the existing salons is arranged as a Robotic Surgery Hall and its equipment includes a Da Vinci surgery robot. Robotic Surgery is routinely used by Urology, General Surgery, Cardiovascular Surgery and Gynecological Oncology clinics for this purpose. In our operating room, kidney, liver and small intestine transplants are performed within the framework of organ transplantation. It became the first and only center in the country for small intestine transplantation.
In this context, competent and experienced advanced surgery and anesthesia teams work in our operating theaters in their own fields. Although the annual average number of surgeries is 60,000, 5500 of these surgeries are group A, 7000 are group B and 10,000 are group C surgeries. With the number of annual surgeries, the highest numbers of the region and the country are reached. Despite the current experience and the number of surgeries in our operating theater, it still continues its studies with the motivation to progress in science and service.
